A trip through the Dolomites-a dream adventure
If you want the freedom that only a camper can provide and you want to explore the most beautiful parts of Italy without having to carry a backpack as heavy as your sense of responsibility, then traveling by camper through the Dolomites is the right thing for you! Join us as we share our hilarious experiences, unforgettable experiences and a few tips we learned the hard way.
Summer is the perfect time to visit the Dolomites, especially when temperatures in our country and at the sea reach levels that are more suitable for baking cakes than for living. While everyone else is cooking on the beach, we have cleverly fled to the mountains where the air is fresh, the sights beautiful, and the only thing burning are the calories as you climb.
First station: Tre Cime National park
Our journey began in Tre Cime National Park where we were greeted by peaks that seem to have fallen out of an epic adventure. Although we felt like hobbits on the journey, the hiking around these peaks was spectacular. There's nothing better than sitting on the edge of a mountain and thinking about the meaning of life while at the same time trying not to fall.
Tre Cime offers trails for all fitness levels, from those who can walk all day to those who breathe while searching for the remote. Our electric bikes were a rescue because they allowed us to climb to incredible heights without having to ask for extra lungs.
The magic of Cortina d'ampezzo
After three Cima, our next goal was Cortina d'ampezzo where we felt like we had entered the set of an old winter sports movie. In summer, Cortina is perfect for hiking, cycling and exploring natural beauty. Our electric bikes were faithful companions as we climbed peaks of up to 2300 meters.
Cortina offers a network of hiking and biking trails for all adventurers. We spent the day exploring the trails, meeting other enthusiasts and trying not to fall off the bike while admiring the view. In the evening, the city offered excellent restaurants where we rewarded ourselves with local specialties and wine because who says you can not reward yourself after a hard day?
Passo di Falzarego: paradise for mountaineers
Riding on the camper further, we reached Passo di Falzarego where we discovered that this mountain pass was a paradise for hikers. There were so many tracks that we didn't know which one to choose first. In the end we chose the one that looked the easiest, which was a big mistake because our feet begged for mercy already after the first few kilometers.
Climbing Lagazuoi
One of the most exciting activities was climbing Lagazuoi. With the help of the cable car we reached Rifugio Lagazuoi where we admired the panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. It was an experience that we will remember, if nothing else, because of the leg pain that accompanied us for the next few days.
Arraba i Passo Pordoi
We continued on our way to Arraba where we discovered Passo Pordoi-a mountain pass with breathtaking views. Riding a bike here was a special challenge, but we successfully mastered all the climbs. After a hard day we relaxed in a local restaurant where we rewarded ourselves with local specialties and drinks.
Passo Pordoi is a favorite place for cyclists, and we took the opportunity to test our cycling skills. The climb was demanding, but the reward was in the form of incredible views of the mountain peaks and valleys. For cycling enthusiasts, this is a must-see destination.
Visit Terazza delle Dolomiti
One of the most impressive points of our trip was a visit to Terazza delle Dolomita. This terrace, located at 2950 meters above sea level, offers breathtaking panoramic views. We reached it by cable car, and the view from the top was the reward for all our adventures.
Terazza delle Dolomiti is the perfect place for nature photography and sightseeing. Armed with cameras, we spent hours trying to capture the beauty that surrounded us. This site provides a unique perspective on the Dolomites, and each corner was worth filming.
Canazei: charming mountain place
After visiting Terazza delle Dolomiti, we headed towards Canazei. This charming mountain place offers many activities for nature lovers.
Canazei is also rich in cultural and historical sights. We visited a local museum that shows the history of the Dolomites and the traditional way of life in this area. This was the perfect way to learn more about the region and its rich heritage.
Lago di Alleghe and Camp Alleghe
The next destination was Lago di Alleghe-a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. Here we are settled in camp Alleghe which offers everything you need for a pleasant stay, including a swimming pool. Refreshment in the pool after a day spent on a bike or hiking was perfect.
Lago di Alleghe provides numerous recreational opportunities. We rented kayaks and spent the afternoon exploring the lake. The water was crystal clear and the environment calm and relaxing. For those who prefer relaxation camp Alleghe offers beautiful beaches and picnic areas.
Lake Santa Croce: an oasis for surfers
Our journey continued to Lago di Santa Croce. This lake is known for its ideal water surfing conditions. We spent two days at the Lake Campsite enjoying water sports and relaxing along the shore.
Lago di Santa Croce is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. We rented surfing gear and spent hours having fun on the water. The Lake Camp offers excellent facilities for surfers, including surfing schools and equipment rentals. This was the perfect place to end our journey.
After a week filled with adventure, fresh air and unforgettable scenes, the time has come to return home. A camping trip through the Dolomites gave us the freedom to explore without haste and stress, sleeping wherever we wanted and enjoying every moment.
Traveling by camper through the Dolomites is an experience that we recommend to any adventure lover. Whether you are an experienced mountaineer or just want to get away from the heat and crowds, Dolomites offer something for everyone. Enjoy the freedom of the camper, explore beautiful landscapes and create memories that will last a lifetime. Bon voyage!
