A road trip to Vienna
Another winter school holidays arrived, and also questionnaires over our heads 🤯 - where to go with the children (read two girls 5 and a half and 9 and a half years), and we all enjoy Visoke the high temperatures and the irreplaceable level of snow melted our idea of skiing, in the spa we have already had enough for the next few months, for the sea and not much luck…
And so one evening the younger daughter arbitrarily learning German on a pill izjavi declared that she would go to Germany to speak German. Since we had only 2-3 days at our disposal for a camping trip 🚐, we made a compromise so the choice fell on Austria!and Vienna! – the child can "speak" German, and we will not have to listen to "how much longer do we ride"for too long! 😅
The very mention of the ZOO donio brought enthusiasm to the house, and mom threw herself into planning ... 🔍
The great thing about traveling by camper is that you do not have to spend time looking for accommodation around the city you are going to and see if the accommodation has everything you need and all the complications related to it. The only thing you need is to rent a camper with us, and further we can help you with the campsites.
On Tuesday morning we started preparing our luxury camper 🚐 for the trip: we filled all drawers and clothes cabinets as if we were going for two weeks, not two and a half days, and nothing was different when it came to food, toys, …
The man in the House took care of the technical things in the camper: it was necessary to fill the water 🌊, check the gas (now it is much simpler with our new application that is used by our clients who rent the camper with us, so just a look at the app can tell us how much gas we have in the bottle)…
We're finally moving 🚐 and we already have the question: "how many Yoos?"Familiar?
We arrive at the campsite in the evening. Motorhome-parking space Vienna which is just off the highway. If you try the day before to ask if there is a place for a camper and if you can book, you will get an answer:
"A reservation the evening before or on the day of arrival is not possible by telephone or email!
You are welcome to try your luck and arrive without a reservation. If a parking space is available, you are very welcome.“
We come to the campsite and guess-a bunch of places are free so there's really nothing to worry about this part of the year. Couldn't they have written that? 🤷♀️
The campsite is clean and tidy, but since it is close to the highway and along the road, forget about peace and quiet, but this time we did not ask for it. What is commendable is that in the camp there is a fenced area for dogs🐶, which meant a lot to us that we always travel with our quadrupeds🐾 🐾. As for the price of the campsite, the night is € 30.00 per camper. People are not charged extra.
The first thing the younger daughter asked when we arrived in the evening was, " where is the zoo?" 🦁
After dinner, the children couldn't wait to put the bed down because it was the biggest rush in the camper! The fatigue from all day saving and traveling worked on everything, so we all fell asleep very quickly.
In the morning my early riser wakes up first and starts breakfast, song, dance and preparing for the ZOO! What we love about Vienna is the Vienna metro. Wiener U-Bahn povezuje connecting the whole city, so it is really not a problem to get from one end of the city to the other by public transport. We were also lucky that our campsite is a 2 minute walk from the metro station.
The Vienna metro is also a great experience for kids because the fact that we ride Underground is like science fiction to them.
After a half-hour drive, we arrive at the beautiful Schönbrunn 🌳 🌳 park. Since we are still in the winter period, unfortunately we did not see all the splendor that the beautiful flower gardens in the park show in the spring, summer and autumn months.
She was on her way first "Glass House – - Wüstenhaus / Desert House which presents a unique opportunity to experience the diversity of desert plants from around the world 🌵 ☀ ️
When you step into the Wüstenhaus, you will immediately feel the changing atmosphere. Instead of the typical European Climate, you encounter warm, dry air and exotic plants that have adapted to the extreme conditions of life in the desert. Here you can see the variety of cacti and other plants that have developed extraordinary strategies for survival in arid conditions 🌿 🌺
I have to admit, the kids weren't very impressed with what they saw.
On the way to the zoo there is an impressive greenhouse: Großes Palmenhaus Schönbrunn arhitektonski representing the architectural gem of the 19th century. century and hosts a unique collection of tropical plants 🌿 ✨
When you step inside, you will immediately feel the warmth and moisture surrounding you, creating a feeling like you are in some distant tropical paradise. The large greenhouse offers space for a variety of Palms, bamboo, orchids and other exotic plants, some of them older than a century.
One of the most fascinating aspects of visiting Palmenhaus is the feeling of traveling through different tropical ecosystems. You can walk next to tall palms in the “jungle”, then freshen up in an area with fountains and aquatic plants or admire multicolored orchids in a special greenhouse.
When the younger daughter asked, " Where are the giraffes?"Annie , I knew it was time to finally go to the zoo.
As we entered the ZOO, there was excitement in all of us, and when we finally entered, I finally heard that long-awaited "WOOOW!"from your children 🤩
On the one hand, giraffes a meter away from us ate their twigs carelessly, on the other hand, beautiful koalas and playful pandas. Well always funny and interesting monkeys, angry elephant impaling a huge tire, zebras, rhinos, flamingos, Penguins, Lions, fascinating Tiger, Kangaroos, lynxes, crocodiles, wolves, birds, amphibians... 🦁 🐯 🐻 🐵 🐘 🦒 🦓 🐧 🐍 🐢 🐊 🐨 🐒 🐾
What we noticed in all the animals and what we would especially praise is the fact that all the animals are in very good condition, they are all very active, mobile, well fed and very well maintained.
In addition to seeing many beautiful animals, we also repeated the names of animals in German (Long live mobile applications for learning foreign languages!) 📱
The highlight of the visit to the zoo was a fenced place with mini prawns and sheep where visitors can feed them (for 1 euro you can buy food for them) and groom them. Finally get the girls to fill that part where they can pet the animals. There was no end to the happiness, nor to the question of whether we could bring home the black sheep and the hard-working fat goat 🐑 🐐
Since the ZOO is really big, I advise you to set aside a whole day for it. Here I also have to commend my girls who walked without question all day without problems!
Vienna ZOO, also known as Tiergarten Schönbrunn, it is not just an ordinary zoo – it is a place where history, culture and Wildlife Conservation come together to create a unique experience for visitors.
Founded in 1752. Vienna ZOO is the oldest zoo in the world, but that's not the only reason it's special. Located within the magical Schönbrunn complex, the ZOO offers a beautiful blend of natural environment and historical architecture. Walking through it provides a unique opportunity to observe wildlife in an environment that mimics their natural habitats, which creates a pleasant atmosphere for families and nature lovers.
Very subtly at the entrance / exit of the Schönbrunn complex there is a shop Lindt Chocolate Boutique which we couldn't get around. Fortunately (or unfortunately) they had quite large reductions so we strengthened the kilos and weakened the bank cards ... 🍫 🍬 💳
In the evening we returned to the camper tired, but filled with wonderful impressions of everything we had seen. Dinner and dessert followed (we picked up half of Lindt's shop anyway) 🍽️
Then came the board games uživaju enjoyed by all generations . : Man, don't be mad, Mikado, the mill(You can also play with a camper!))
Some were so tired that their eyelids came down before the bunk bed was lowered.
Needless to say, the rest of us fell asleep as soon as we went to bed.
The next day was reserved for two locations, so let's start in order. After breakfast we sat on the subway again and drove to a beautiful 11-story building known as House of the sea or Haus des Meeres. The House of the sea is a fascinating attraction that offers a unique combination of aquariums, terrariums, and Botanical Gardens.
At the entrance you will be greeted by an aquarium with fish you can cuddle! Yes, you read right: fish come to your hands and cuddle. I don't need to mention my girls ' enthusiasm.
Each floor of this attraction offers something different and special. The whole building is actually one big aquarium where you can see giant turtles swimming iznad, Sharks prolaze passing over your head, colorful fish., corals, giant snakes, monkeys and birds that are not confined in cages, but jump freely in the trees inside the building sredini in the middle of the 7th floor. there is a large aquarium called 360° Shark aquarium which is really impressive!
On 11. first floor there is a roof terrace 360° Ocean Sky with a beautiful panoramic view of the whole of Vienna 🌄
U The House of the sea we stayed for about 3 and a half hours, which is quite enough to see all that this impressive building has to offer. I advise you to come by 10 o'clock because after that there are already bigger crowds at the entrance.
After The House of the sea we walked to Vienna. The Natural History Museum The view of the museum building is impressive, located on Maria-Theresien-Platz.
This museum provides an incredibly interesting and educational experience for all visitors, regardless of age or interest groups, and is home to a fascinating collection of natural historical artifacts.
One of the most famous parts of the museum and for my younger Turkey is by far the most impressive Hall of Dinosaurs (Dinosaur Hall), which is one of the largest and most impressive collections of dinosaur fossils in the world. There you can look at various fossilized dinosaur remains, including impressive specimens such as Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops and many others.
In addition, the museum also offers outstanding exhibits on the evolution of life on Earth🌍, geological processes, minerals, plants and animals. Given the richness of its collections, the museum provides an excellent opportunity to learn and explore the diversity of the natural world.
Overall, the visit to the Natural History Museum in Vienna provides a unique experience of exploring and discovering the wonderful world of nature and history at one of Vienna's most important cultural sites.
Both the children and US adults were impressed by everything we saw in the museum and we definitely come back again when the girls grow up a little. I advise you to take a whole day to visit this museum because it is really a pity to pass it in a hurry and superficially. The kids can learn a lot from it, and the older ones can too.
Full of impressions and steps we return tired, but satisfied to the camper and slowly prepare to go home... 🛣 ️
